The passing of a visionary…
I think is fair to say that this week saw the passing of one of the worlds greatest visionaries.
Steve Jobs legacy has left an indelible mark on the way in which all businesses not only view product design but also the way in which the customer ” experience” their products and services on almost every level.
Products such as the apple mac, Ipod, Iphone and Ipad werent just successes because the gadget was great. In many instances the product wasn’t even the best of its time on the market. No, they were successful because under his stewardship Apple focussed on the entire customer experience.
The moment you enter an Apple store you are hit instantaneously by cool modern design, the staff are all young, enthusiastic and trendy; the products are immaculately displayed under high wattage lighting; even the computers respond in lightnening quick time (probably thanks to some seriously high powered broadband in the basement). Then once you purchase your product the packaging itself is quite simply a work of art only marginally superceeded by the cool high mordern design of the gleaming product inside. . Even the manual and cables appear to be something out of a big budget Sci Fi movie.
In short, once you have bought an Apple product you feel part of the future and never feel like looking back.
Its this attention to detail and careful consideration of the entire buying experience, why I have nothing but admiration for the man and the company. He simply raised the bar and then changed the game and for that I am truly grateful. Without him there would be no smart phone revolution and therefore no App-Team.
We salute you Steve and wish you save journey.
Steve Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011)
